Hot tub season is all year round, but with summer kicking into full swing, more of us will be outside enjoying a soothing evening soak. Whether you have had a long day at work or a long day working in the yard, relaxing in the hot tub is one of the best ways to end your day. Your hot tub rejuvenates you and helps you feel great. But what do you need to do to keep your hot tub working like new?

The answer to that question is to keep up with simple maintenance. One of the key things you need to remember for your hot tub is to clean and change your filter. So the question is, how often should you clean your hot tub filter?

The answer is simple if you keep the number 2 in mind.

Rinse Every 2 Weeks
Give your hot tub filter a good rinse every two weeks. This will help get out any large debris to keep your water clean. This step is important to help ensure that your filter keeps working well.

Clean Every 2 Months
You can stretch this to three months, depending on the need, but planning on every couple months will help ensure that your hot tub stays clean. Just make sure you get the right products and follow the instructions. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.

Another way to keep the number 2 in mind is to always have that many filters on hand. That way, you can put your second filter in while you have the other one out for cleaning. If you do this, you won’t have any hot tub downtime, and you can stretch the life of each filter.

Replace Once a Year
Hot tub filters need to be replaced once each year. If you alternate a pair of filters for cleaning, then you can stretch their life out a little longer, but it is a good idea to plan on a new filter each year.

The key to staying up with this schedule is to set reminders so you know how long you have had your filters and how long it has been since you last cleaned them.
Keeping your hot tub clean ensures that you will be able to enjoy it for many years to come. If you’re looking for more information on hot tubs, feel free to contact us to learn more.
