Are Hot Tubs Safe?

There is a lot of speculation around hot tubs and their safety. From bacteria growth and diseases to the fear of children falling in and drowning, people have their reasons. But in reality, hot tubs are safe as long as the owner takes care of it.
So the question stands: Are hot tubs safe?
Hot tubs are fun and can give you a reason to look forward to the end of a long day. With a combination of relaxation, music, and the sound and feel of the jets, hot tubs offer a lot to you and your guests. The only problem is that many people don’t take the time necessary to care for their hot tub.
If you properly maintain your hot tub, you’ll find it’s not only safe, but one of the most enjoyable items you own.

Keep It Clean
Before you even purchase a hot tub, consider what you have to do to ensure its safety. You’ll notice the salesperson trying to get you to purchase some minerals and cleaners, but you should know that they aren’t trying to up-sell you.
It’s important to keep your hot tub safe by using the appropriate cleaners. After every use, you’ll want to add whatever tablet or cleansing agent you have available. Once a month—or more depending on the use—you’ll want to empty the hot tub and scrub it with chlorine.
A clean hot tub will keep bacteria from growing, making it both safe and enjoyable.

Stress Reliever
It was already mentioned that hot tubs can relieve stress, but how? Your hot tub is meant to help you live your best life.

  • If you have jets, position them on the parts of your body you think need a massage. This can stimulate cell growth and boost circulation.
  • Being immersed in hotter water causes blood vessels to dilate and lessen blood flow resistance.
  • Overall, heat helps relax muscles and, in turn, helps you relieve the stress of the day.
  • If your muscles are sore or tight, immersing them in heat may help by improving circulation.
